To manage custom times and dates for products, you should use "Rules"

Custom Date Metafields


Delivery Timer supports the ability to attach a date to a product and surface this in the timer. If you are using the Default Timer with Rules, you may need to create a Rule for the products you wish to manage. This is so you can customize the message specifically for those products.

If you just want to make use of the Custom Date Metafield method, you can use the Default Timer with the message you desire.


To use Custom Date Metafield, you require:

  • A Product Metafield in your Shopify store of Date type with the name custom_date (If you are new to metafields, please see the following: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/custom-data/metafields)
  • You will need to use the Text Based Timer with the Default Timer and/or Rules. You will need to ensure the parameter is in this message {{ custom_date }}

Once you have created the Product Metafield, you will need a valid date attached to each product required



When the Text Timer has the parameter within, it will output the custom date attached to the product if the condition is met. If there is no active product metafield set, it will default to the Default Timer date.



On your storefront, it will output just like the {{deliverydate }} parameter but with your custom date attached to the product.


Use cases


The custom metafield is an advanced feature of Delivery Timer. It allows you to set specific dates for each product. You can do this easily using "Rules" but by using the Metafield approach, you can automate the update of times using API based workflows for example.


  • Pre Order dates
  • API Based Updates
  • Zapier / Make updates via Automations
  • Dynamic Times which vary based on 3rd Party API
